Introduction to Lymphatic Massage - Lower Extremity 12 CE

Introduction to Manual Lymphatic Drainage for the Lower Extremity

In this 2-day, 12-hour continuing education course, participants will explore the principles and practices of Manual Lymphatic Drainage according to the Vodder Method as adopted by Dr. Michael Földi.   This course will explore both the history, methods, and mechanisms of Manual lymphatic drainage, as well as the indications and contraindications for its use.

Day One:  Review the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system including its relation to other body systems, especially the immune system; the location of the major nodes, and superficial and deep lymphatics. Identify the watersheds of the body and drainage pathways. Explore through observation and interaction; palpation, rhythm, frequency, and direction of flow. Demonstrate the 5 basic Vodder Method Strokes

Day Two:  Demonstrate MDL protocols; open the terminus (end drainage point), deep abdominal, lower extremity, and direct lymphatic fluid through the pathways to reduce post-surgical or post-traumatic edema, aiding in deep relaxation, supporting cosmetic benefits as well as managing other chronic conditions such as migraine headaches and fibromyalgia.
